July 10, 2017: The Capuchin Friars of Mangalore St Anne’s friary celebrated the feast of St Anthony in a grand manner. Fr Manohar conducted the prayer, Fr Melwyn, the guardian inaugurated ‘St Anthony’s Bread for the Poor’, a new mission of Capuchin Friars. On every Tuesday the Friars will be distributing the bread to the poor people after a short novena to St Anthony in front the shrine.

Today all the devotees gathered were distributed with sweets, bread, and flowers.

In the evening at the 6 clock, a solemn Eucharist was celebrated in honour of St Anthony. Fr Lancy Rebello presided over the Eucharist and preached a fitting homily. He invited the faithful to take the inspiration from the life of St Anthony. ‘Our celebration of Novenas and other devotion should help us to be inspiring human persons like St Anthony’, he said. Fr Melwyn brought to the notice of the faithful the contributions done to the poor through the St Anthony’s fund for the poor. He then thanked each and every one for making the day’s celebration a memorable one.
